Welcome to the Textile Conservation Foundation's website.

The TCCF (registered charity no. 269430) was established in 1975 to support the work of the Textile Conservation Centre (TCC) and to support textile conservation research and education more generally. The Trustees ran the TCC when it was based at Hampton Court Palace; when the TCC transferred to the University of Southampton the Trust's role changed and trustees focussed their efforts on supporting the work of the TCC primarily through fund- and awareness-raising.

As many visitors to this website will know, the Textile Conservation Centre was closed by the University of Southampton on October 31st 2009 - a decision which provoked an international outcry.

The new Centre for Textile Conservation and Technical Art History was opened by the TCC Foundation and Glasgow University.  This new Centre continues the work of the former TCC but also significantly extends it.  The potential for future development is great and the  Trustees feel that there could not be a better home for textile conservation education and research in the UK.

This website provides some background information about the TCC Foundation and about the funders who have generously supported it over more than 30 years. It was launched in tandem with the new TCC website - the aim of both being to capture some of the achievements of the old Centre, its staff and the trust and also to be a source of information and news about about the new Centre's work and achievements.
